Florence is filled with so much art and cultural history it is hard not to love this city. You will be swept away into Renaissance as you are surrounded by beautifully preserved, architecturally perfect, historical buildings and breathtaking art at every turn. Also the food here is amazing with trattorias, osterias, cafes, gelaterias and pizzerias everywhere!
Firenze, Italia.
We arrived in Florence late afternoon and got to explore a little bit of the town at night. We had dinner and went to a karaoke bar. This was one of the funniest nights with the whole Contiki group and as well as the other three groups that were there as well. The drinks kept coming and the karaoke performances just kept getting better and better. We had the option to stay at the karaoke bar or take the bus available back to our accommodation. If you stayed at the karaoke bar, you had to find your own way back and I'm glad I took the bus because people who stayed behind said it was hard to find a taxi back.
The next day we had leather demonstration and walking tour around the city. The leather demonstration was interesting since Florence is known for it's high quality leather. I did buy something at the shop as well many others. I got an engraved wallet for my dad since it was Father's Day back home and I was missing it. The walking tour was very informative with our local tour guide. We then had the rest of the day free to whatever you wanted. The girls that I was with decided to walk around the city, visit the duomo, buy some souvenirs at local boutiques, and try a bunch of different foods!
After spending the day exploring, we went back to our accommodation to get ready for the night. One of my favorite memories in Florence was this night. We all got dolled up because we were also taking our group photo in Piazzale Michelangelo. The views at Piazzale Michelangelo were breathtaking! The sun was ready to start setting and you can see the the whole city from up there. I could not get enough of the view, I wished we got to stay longer. After that we headed to our dinner in the city which by the way was so yummy! The staff at this restaurant were outstanding and provided great service.
After dinner, one of the optionals was a night at Club Space. If this sounds familiar, yes it is the same club that the cast of Jersey Shore filmed in. This was one of my memorable moments in Italy I will never forget. We had such a great time here and of course we were in company of cute local Italian boys. Like with other nights out, we had the option to leave with the bus or stay at your leisure. Most of us decided to stay back and continue partying.
