Embracing who are and practicing self love are important for many reasons. Many people struggle with knowing their worth and being able to be unapologetic for being themselves. Creating a space in your life to listen and explore who you really are, and to accept and fully embrace your true authentic self is priceless. I haven't talked about this topic before on my blog but hope to incorporate more in future blog posts.
Self Love.
Nowadays, many young girls aren't practicing self love but more often putting themselves down because of society standards and social media. Especially during this time of the year, I hear many girls dreading Valentine's Day due to the fact that their single. Being single in general isn't a bad thing. In all actuality, it is the best time to focus on yourself and the things that make you happy. You are not tied down to anybody and have the freedom to pursue everything you want.
Valentine's Day puts an emphasis on love and relationships. It is just one day out of the whole year that it is over commercialized and over hyped on social media If you believe showing your love for a significant other is based on just one day, you need to practice the act of self love. Why not make this day about loving yourself? You can't love someone else until you truly love yourself first. In honor of Valentines Day, the designated day of love, here are some way to practice self love:
Acceptance.
Acceptance.
Accepting yourself with flaws and all is the first step in self love. Stop comparing yourself to others and learn to embrace the person you are. We all posses unique beautiful qualities, both physical and emotional, that makes us different from one another. Changing who you are to look a certain way is loosing your individuality to fit into society's standards. You don't need to try look like, dress, or talk like anyone else. We all offer the world something different, that is what makes everyone beautiful in their own right.
Company You Keep.
The saying, "your vibe attracts your tribe" is very true. As we get older, the number of friends we have tend to get smaller and smaller. We start to value our time and our friendships more and shift focus from quantity to quality. The company we keep is so important because you need uplifting, positive, honest, supportive people in your life. If you have negative and toxic people in your life such as friends or family members, cut them out of your life. Having that negative energy can effect how you feel about yourself if your constantly surrounded by it.
Many people struggle with the idea of taking time for themselves. Having "me time" is very important for your mind, body and soul. Taking an hour every now and then or a full day to yourself is needed to help recharge, reset, and re-energize. Whether is is working out, getting your hair or nails done, shopping, dancing, watching a netflix series, reading a book, or traveling solo, me time is needed to clear your mind.
Positive Affirmations.
Begin each day by acknowledging something positive about yourself! Leave notes or quotes on your mirror, phone, wall, refrigerator, to boost your spirits. All the little things we overlook truly make a difference. Having reminders can refocus your attention to positivity and productivity. Focusing on the positive moments in your day will transform your mindset over time.
Passions.
Allowing yourself to be creative and follow your passions is what can gives you fulfillment and purpose. Life is short and it does not have to be so serious. If you have a certain hobby or passion and always put it off because you don't have so called time, just do it! Make time for the things that make your soul happy. My passion for traveling, photography, and writing has led me into the blogging world and it has been the best creative outlet for me recently. I thrive on creating new content and sharing my experiences and hope you whoever is reading this is enjoying my journey as well.
