Things To Do in Cordoba Spain

Córdoba is a lesser-known travel destination to some located in Spain. This place has a fascinating history and breathing-taking sites that you need to check out whenever traveling to Spain!

Córdoba, España.
Córdoba is located in the south of Spain in the sunny province of Andalucía. It's the nearest of Andalusia's biggest cities; to Madrid and is well situated for taking day trips from Seville and Granada. Córdoba is a really old city with a multicultural history that goes centuries back. The city has been a home for Romans, Muslims, Jews and in the 13th century Córdoba was conquered by the Christians. Cordoba has such a wealth of history and treasures, but it’s also home to two of the best festivals in Spain, not to mention having awesome dining. If you visit during the summer just be warmed it gets quite hot here so be prepared but it's pretty much warm all year around.

After departing Seville, we made our way to Cordoba in the afternoon! We had a short walking tour then had free time to do as we pleased. Many of us broke into small groups to wander around Cordoba and explore what this city had to offer. It's such a cute charming city and very accessible just by walking, I loved the small town feel yet learning about how much history this place had over the years. Here are a few things you can do when visiting Cordoba!

Visit La Mezquita.
La Mezquita is the main attraction and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Cordoba and I believe it is something you can't miss and that it really is a “must see.” The Mezquita is also known as Catedral de Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion. It was originally a Mosque and is now a Roman Catholic Cathedral and this is the precise reason that the building is so magnificent, intriguing and stunning. The building's interior is truly spectacular, you can’t help but walk in and be in awe!

Fine Dining.
There's so many good restaurants here in Cordoba. A group of us wanted to have dinner at a more upscale place so we found this gem near the Mezquita. They had indoor seating and outdoor seating in their private courtyard which was stunning. The food, wine, service was excellent with no complaints.

Calleja de las Flores.
This is a stunning street where you find plants and flowers hanging everywhere. It's very dreamy and picturesque! I highly recommend coming here when in Cordoba, it's just so stunning.

Watch a Sunset.
You can watch the sunset anywhere in Cordoba but I highly recommend watching it at El Puente Romano (Roman Bridge). This ancient bridge once connected the rest of Andalusia to the Mezquita; but today, it's a beautiful place to wander to walk around and take in the views of Cordoba. You'll find many musicians and performers along the bridge and locals. If you're a Game of Thrones fan, you will notice this bridge may look familiar. I loved seeing how this area transformed as it got darker because everything is so beautifully lit which makes it look more magical.

Sip Some Cocktails on a Rooftop Bar.
After the sun has set, hit up a rooftop bar and relax with the gorgeous views of the city from up above. There's many around the city to check out but it's a must when you're here! This one in particular was located at the NH Guadalquivir, right across from the Roman bridge.

Hammam.

Hammam's are popular here in Cordoba. If your not familiar with this term it's basically an Arab style spa experience. There's many hot and cold pools, steam rooms, hot stones therapies, massage scrubs, and chill out lounges. There's Arab decor and your served traditional mint tea. Before coming to Cordoba, we were told if you wanted to sign up to go to a hammam. Those who chose to go met up at the rooftop at a particular time to go to the hammam together at night. I decided not to go just because I was tired and wanted to catch up on some sleep. But those who went said it was a great experience and very relaxing!
