Longwood Gardens // Pennsylvania

October 31, 2017

If you're ever in Pennsylvania, you must check out this amazing botanical garden!

Longwood Gardens.
Address: 1001 Longwood Rd, Kennett Square, PA 19348

I actually discovered this place by an Instagram post I saw in my feed. I looked up the location and realized it was less than 3 hours away and wanted to check it out! If you want amazing photos, go for a nice walk, or have a picnic with scenic views, I recommend coming here. I've been to many botanical garden within the tri-state area but was blown away with this one. From the well-kept grounds, ponds, fountains, landscapes, and observatory, this place is gorgeous! This place is huge so I recommend taking comfortable walking shoes, I think it took about 4 hours to circle around the whole area walking.

The main attraction is definitely the observatory, as soon as you walk in, you're jaw just drops from the beauty and attention to detail in every corner. The floral arrangements in the main area are absolutely breathtaking as well as each section of the observatory. You can spend hours in there just looking at all the exhibits! Right outside the observatory is the view of the fountain garden. This area has a European feel, it reminded me of the Gardens of Versailles in Paris. They have seating right outside of the observatory to view the fountain show that they provide at certain hours. If you want to be more up close, you can walk down through the fountain garden and see the beautiful landscape. There's also a hidden grotto in that area that was pretty cool. Everyone was asking me where was this place located after posting to social media. Longwood gardens was also named one of the best botanical gardens in the country, if the pictures don't convince you to go check it out, I don't know what will!

Longwood Gardens is open daily (including holidays) and is located on US Route 1 near Kennett Square, PA, 30 miles west of Philadelphia. Admission is $20 for adults; $17 for seniors (age 62+); $10 for students (ages 5–18) or with valid student ID) and free ages 4 and under. Group rates available. It is recommended to buy your tickets online before arriving especially during the weekends, as this place tends to get busy. For more information check out www.longwoodgardens.org.
