New restaurant alert in New York City! If you enjoy Greek food, you will love dining at iSouvlaki in the East Village.  The authentic and affordable eatery will have you coming back for more.

iSouvlaki.
Address: 139 East 12th Street, New York, NY 10003

iSouvlaki is the newest Greek spot that should be on your list of places to eat at when in New York City. Can you believe this restaurant opened in the midst of the pandemic? James Paloumbis, owner of iSouvlaki and few other restaurants in NYC (Chipskates, Gossip Coffee, Merakia, and MexiBBQ) has twenty years of experience in the hospitality industry. His newest venture, iSouvlaki showcases his heritage of being Greek and bringing authentic Greek flavor and affordability to the New York City market. With the menu having majority of their items under $10, this is a great eatery to consider grabbing quick eats from. Especially during these crazy unpredictable times, eating at iSouvlaki won't break the bank and hurt your pockets. Knowing you're eating high quality food with fresh ingredients will make you want to visit time after time. James plans on opening many more iSouvlaki locations throughout New York City and in Long Island  areas in the future.

iSouvlaki, The Best Greek Food in NYC

This was my second outdoor dining experience since the pandemic started. I've taken quarantine very seriously the past couple of months. As things slowly have been re-opening in NYC, I've felt more comfortable dining out. Whilst walking around the East Village area, I stumbled upon iSouvlaki and had to check it out. If you know anything about me, I LOVE Greek food. Since traveling abroad to Greece is out of the question this summer, this was as close as it gets. Finding authentic Greek food is hard to come by but let me tell you, this restaurant did not disappoint at all. From their perfectly seasoned calamari, fulfilling meritha (assorted platters), mouth watering tyliktos (pitas), traditional Greek salads, to delicious greek yogurt with fresh fruit and amazing halva. There's a variety to certainly satisfy anyone's palate. Also Greek beer and wine are available to purchase. iSouvalki is open Monday- Thursday from 4:00-10:00 pm and Friday-Saturday 4:00-11:00 pm. As of right now, it's closed on Sunday but expanded hours may commence in the future.

I wanted to share the safety precautions iSouvlaki has in place to ensure peace of mind when dining here. My mother and I had a seat in one of their outdoor tables. As of now they have limited tables to seat up to 16 people and remain socially distant. There is an order window where you can order whatever you desire with a screen protecting yourself and the employee. The menu is displayed on all windows, doors, the big screens inside, and even available on their app. Everyone inside the establishment from the servers, cooks, and owner were wearing masks at all times. Since this is a more casual dining place and we're in COVID-19 times, your food is delivered all covered up in to go boxes. Whether your dining in their outdoor space or ordering take out, your food is packed with care and fine touches. I loved that the cutlery given were wooden and eco-friendly. That's something I love when a brand or restaurant takes into account and not contributing to plastic waste. Another things to note is that if you're a vegetarian, they have options on the menu for you as well! We ordered a few things off the menu and left so stuffed. The wine we tried was excellent and went perfectly with our food. I highly recommend checking iSouvlaki out and will for sure be returning and trying other things out on the menu in the future!

*As we all know the restaurant business has been hit hard across the globe due to this pandemic especially here in New York City. These restaurants need your business, so please go support them when you can and spread the word to help increase clientele. Leaving helpful reviews, tagging locations on social media, and following them on social media is free to you but so helpful to these businesses at this time.*

    1. I know right! 2020 has been a whirlwind of a year so far, let alone to open a business during this time. With certain schools opening up within that area this month, hopefully restaurants within that area get more traction!
