tips on how to make 2019 your year

2019 is officially here and this year is full of potential, growth, opportunity, and of course the unknown. So many things can change in a year so why not make sure you start off the year with goals that can make 2019 one of your best years ever.

Make 2019 Your Year.
As mentioned in my last post, 2018 wasn't necessarily 'my year' (click here) to read more. Saying that I definitely want to make 2019 a better year. To do this you need to change your habits, environment, state of mind, and have a plan! Whether you believe in new years resolutions or not, having things to work towards to is important for growth. If you're planning to stick with one goal this year or have many goals you want to achieve, write it down. Something about writing things downs keeps you accountable and makes it more real. Now break down that goal into smaller steps where your goal  can be attainable.

Change Your Mindset.
Your mindset if your greatest asset. If you're coming into 2019 with a negative mindset then you're probably going to have a lack of a better word, shitty year. You see, your mindset will determine if you're going to push forward or give up. Don't allow yourself to be around negative vibes, thoughts, or people because you're just setting yourself up for failure. Some ways to change your mindset for this year is to make your goals clear, don't let the opinions of others deter you from what you want to happen this year, focus on your growth and goals, and learn from the challenges that come your way and see them as a learning opportunity in becoming a better you.

Take a Social Media Break.
Mindlessly scrolling through instagram or any social media for that matter takes up so much of our time. I know because I catch myself doing it all the time and then realize I have lost an hour or more of doing nothing. Whether your work is based online or you just love seeing what others are posting about, taking a social media break is good for the soul time to time. You don't need to be constantly consuming content every minute of every hour.

More Self-love.
I'm such a big advocate for self love. As person who tends to put herself last, taking time for yourself is so important and should be a priority. It's okay to put yourself first and block out time to pamper yourself. Make time to make yourself happy whether it's drinking a glass of wine with music on the background while taking a bubble bath, switching up your hair color/style/length, watching a netflix show with a face mask on, dancing in your room like no ones watching, or singing to your favorite playlist. Make sure you make the time to set up healthcare appointments that you keep pushing back, prioritize your health whether it is eating cleaner or working out. No one is going to take better care of you more than yourself!

Get a New Hobby.
Get out of your comfort zone and try something new. Whether it's learning about photography or enhancing your skills in photography, getting cooking lessons, learning a new language, going to an art class, trying out a new sport,  getting dance lessons, or whatever it is that you want to do, DO IT! You never know what can come from it. You can end up finding a new passion that you never knew you had unless you try it. By doing this you're also opening up the possibilities of creating new friendships and meeting new people along the way.

Redesign and Clean Out.
Your space/environment is a very sacred place that needs to spark up some sort of vibe. Whether it's your bedroom, home, office, closet, whatever it is, it's always fun to switch it up. Maybe I'm watching to much HGTV but redecorating my space just changes up my mood. You can re-paint your walls, rearrange your furniture, add some plants, add fun decor and get rid of things that no longer serve you. Decluttering a mess from your closet, room, office, or even laptop/phone can just make such a difference in your energy.

Make a Vision Board.
Not sure if you have read the book the secret, know about the law of attraction, or heard about manifestation practices. Having your goals, plans, or things that you want to happen in a vision board is a great way to have a visual reminder on what to work towards on. I'm all about the visuals whether it's in learning or whatnot but at the end of 2018, vision boards and manifestation practice just kept popping up in social media or just around me in general. I personally haven't made a vision board since I was in elementary school but decided to give it a try. It was actually fun to put together my vision board, get as creative as you can! You're supposed to put it in a place where you see it constantly. I'm not sure if the whole vision board/manifestation thing works but here's to hoping to see if I accomplish the things on my vision board at the end of the year.

Make it The Year of YES!
Don't limit yourself when new opportunities come your way. I don't know if you can relate but I have this weird tendency to talk myself out of opportunities that come my way. Why? I don't know. Am I trying to break this cycle? Yes I am! Make this the year of YES, where you just go for whatever that it maybe. If a friend wants to a take a spontaneous road trip and invites you, go! If you get a cool opportunity to do something out of your comfort zone, do it! Saying yes to things that you usually say no to can allow you to be more open to new memories, friends, careers, and the list goes on.
